PAUL HARRIS FELLOW. Carin Smith received her first PHF award from Secretary Frank, who took the opportunity to explain how Rotarians can help others receive the award using PHF Transfer Points, earned via their own donations to The Rotary Foundation (TRF), mainly PolioPlus or the Annual Fund. A club member added sufficient points to her existing donations, that she might proudly wear the PHF pin to the RI Convention in Houston next week.

PETE'S AWARD. DG Richard presented PP Pete Van Well with a plaque of appreciation for his service as District Polio chair.
INBOUND YOUTH EXCHANGE. Reminder. We have an inbound female exchange student from Chile, Rosario Muñoz. Please reach out to your friends and family that might be interested in assisting Rosario learn a new language and discover another culture. Contact President Alice for more information about this and other inbound exchange students.
OUTBOUND YOUTH EXCHANGE. Elani Scott, headed for Argentina, with a sendoff by President Alice.
She had just rushed to this meeting from WVC where she has classes.
UKRAINIAN REFUGEES. Russ Speidel spoke about the recent fund-raiser, a concert which Alice helped to lead. The goal of $20K was met, helped by the club donation of $3500.

The mission of the Wenatchee Rotary Foundation is to improve educational opportunities for those living in the Greater Wenatchee area. Funding for the foundation is through immediate and deferred giving from current and past Wenatchee Rotary Club members. Each club member in good standing is also a member of the Foundation. Tom Ross presided over the WRF portion of the meeting and gave some overview and background on WRF, and thanked all those who served.

VP Ken Robertson conducted the election process, and then recognized departing WRF board members, beginning with Tom Ross who has served 6 years, twice as president. Ken presented a bottle of wine to Tom as a token of appreciation (Water from Wine).
Others mentioned were Mark Kulaas (2 years), Ashley Gillum (1 year), Sue Rose (1 year), Jill Leonard (ex officio).
Joe St. Jean explained the scholarship program (2007). We currently support 13 students, goal is 16. he summarized info on each.
He was excited to announce an $80K increase to the fund's corpus in the last 3 years. Current annual cost is about $20, but is expected to increase soon to $25K. They average out at about $1600 per year per student. They complete after 4 years or a bachelor's degree, whichever comes first.
Joe recognized our newest member who is a recent graduate of the program: Veronica Arroyo-Perez, who spoke briefly, praising the program. She graduated WSU with a double degree, debt-free, and gave inspiring details about her 4 sisters who will all graduate soon debt-free in spite of her parents being uneducated.

Beth Stipe, club member and Executive Director of the Community Foundation of NCW spoke, praising the WRF and how it is structured and operated. She especially appreciates that it is designed as a 4-year program. She went on to explain how the CFNCW operates.
Susan Albert and Sue Rose recognized first-time and multiple Paul Scea Fellows (PSF).
Paul Scea was a 40+ year generous member of this club who died in 1994.
A PSF is a $500 donor to WRF and all PSFs wore a medallion to signify their support of the WRF.
