Life as a County Commissioner—Bob Bugert
Come hear former Rotary Club member Bob Bugert share his experiences as a Chelan County Commissioner. Bob will discuss the range of issues facing the county during his four years of service and share the types of decisions a commissioner must make, from its finances to public safety to the emergence of our county as a tourism related economy. He says there is much to be proud of with our county, and work as a commissioner is very diverse, challenging, and rewarding. He will encourage others to consider running for local public office.
Bob is retiring after over 40 years of public service, for either a local or state government or a non-profit. He spent the bulk of his career as a biologist working on Columbia River salmon issues, and recently served as the administrator for the Chelan Douglas Land Trust. Much of that background played into his work as a commissioner.

Wow! What an opening motivational speech by President Jill. This year's Rotary International theme is Imagine Rotary. President Jill spoke about how we can dream big and Imagine Rotary to make our club grow, impact our community and serve the world.
As Jill stated, the last President, in our case Alice’s job was to shepherd the club out of virtual into physical meetings. The Presidents of this year, Jill, is to usher the club back into rhythm again. The two goals discussed are reconnecting and increasing service projects.
President Jill encouraged members to invite potential members not to a lunch meeting but ask if they want to participate in helping in the community. Then bring them to a meeting to see how we make a change in the community.
Her guests at the meeting were her mother Myrna Leipheimer, daughter Rhiannon Leonard
