OBJECT OF ROTARY

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • First: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
  • Second: High ethical standards in business and profession; the recongnition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
  • Third: Application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his personal, business, and community life.
  • Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, good will, and peace throughout a world fellowship of business and professsional men united in the ideal of service.

The
FOUR-WAY TEST

of the things we think,
say or do...

  1. Is it the TRUTH?

  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

  3. Will it build GOODWELL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT

One of the responsibilities of a Rotarian is to satisfy the attendance requirement by meeting the following conditions:

  • Attend or make-up at least 60% of regular meetings in each half of the year.
  • Attend at least 30% of the Wenatchee Rotary Club meetings in each half of the year.
  • Not miss or fail to make up four consecutive meetings.

Members who are unable to attend a regular club meeting can receive attendance credit in the following ways:

  • Attend a meeting of another club.
  • Attend certain District or International meetings.
  • Participate in a club-sponsored event.
  • Attend a club board or committee meeting.
  • Visit the Rotary on-line club at www.rotaryeclubone.org.

In order to get attendance credit, the make up meeting or event must be attended within 14 days before or after the missed regular meeting and the Club Secretary must be notified.

When the sum of a member’s age and years of Rotary membership total 85 or more, they may request the Board excuse them from the attendance requirement. Upon request, the Board may also excuse an absence for reasons it considers good and sufficient. Questions regarding club attendance policies and procedures may be directed to the Attendance Committee chairman, Eric Nelson at 662-2109

MAKE-UPS

Attendance at Rotary club meetings in other cities, states and countries with Rotary clubs, counts towards this attendance requirement and also helps members extend their network of friends and business contacts.

Rotarians know they are always welcome among the members of any of the 29,000 clubs, in any city in any of the 159 counties with Rotary clubs, in which they travel.

In our international district #5060, encompassing central Washington state and part of British Columbia, Canada, there are nearly 60 different clubs meeting on different days, throughout the week
