- Churches: Story teller for the children in church service before they are released to their Sunday school and in Sunday School. Told stories at Michigan boy scout camps or Indian Guides.
- Teaching: Told stories to teach students that as business people they will make decisions in a context of conflicting values.
- Work: Recognized faculty and support staff by story telling at the Board of Trustees or college staff functions.
- Family: Told stories that revolved around where we were as a family, including the "Mighty Muck Monster" and the "Great Winged Night Nose Scratcher."

SUMMARY
My professional interests have included security investments, business policy, personnel and human resources, industrial relations, community development, and corporate social responsibility. I have pursued research in personnel selection, performance appraisal, training, public, and private sector labor relations, quality of work life, and business policy. My work experience includes marketing data processing equipment and applications for IBM, community development in industrial development, joint labor and management and quality of work life consulting, grant writing, and teaching and training with private industry, community colleges, and universities.
GRANT ACTIVITIES
- Grant writer and treasurer (all volunteer efforts) for two Habitat for Humanity affiliates where we raised over three hundred thousand dollars in funding for housing projects from governmental and private sources.
- Grant writer for funds to buy a computer for Mano-a-Mano community service organization of migrant farm workers in Oregon.
- Principal investigator for $120,000 grant to the National Institute of Handicapped. Research for grant entitled "Examination of Existing Data to Predict the Validity and Utility of Job Performance for Persons with Mental Retardation." October 1, 1986-September, 1988.
- Grant administrator for $25,000 research grant funded by the National Institute of Education. The study identified key behaviors by secondary principals that were linked to characteristics of effective schools.
- Worked under a U.S. Department of Education Personnel Preparation Grant to apply human resources management research and techniques to assist in the transition of developmentally disabled people into competitive work.
- Grant application included in the application to the National Institute of Education by the College of Education for a center on the study of effective secondary schools.
- Wrote and was awarded two federal grants of $150,000 and $50,000 to fund two area labor management committees in Muskegon and Lansing, Michigan.
CONSULTING ACTIVITIES
- Consultant - medium size franchising organization that redesigned its hiring and development policies.
- Member - Planning Committee for Northwest Area Labor-Management Cooperation Symposium.
- Trainer- developed and conducted training programs for middle management.
- Consultant - led team to develop long-range business strategies and linking them to organizational structure and human resource needs in a small growing company.
- Consultant- assist in development of long-range business strategies for the merger of two professional organizations.
- Trainer - conducted and developed Behavioral Modeling Training Programs for first-line supervisors and middle managers in local government and private industry.
- Consultant - designed and conducted attitude surveys and feedback intervention for quality of work life program in large private industry.
- Job Analyst - designed job analyses procedure for first-line supervisors in industrial plant with purpose of establishing performance appraisal system.
- Coordinator - Joint Labor/Management Committee for the Lansing Area Quality of Work Life Program. Coordinated the management interests with a labor leader for an area labor management committee.
