Paul A. Pankey

Paul Pankey was born and raised in Yakima, where he attended school through Junior College.

He was student body president of Yakima Valley Junior College during his sophomore year.

Paul enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve while in high school and entered two years active duty in 1957.

After serving in various assignments, both in command and staff positions appropriate to his rank, Paul retired from the Marines in 1993 as a colonel.

As an enlisted Marine he served as an embassy guard in Baghdad, Iraq in 1958-59 and in Panama City, Panama in 1959-61.

He served two tours in Vietnam and commanded a logistics regiment and the port in Jubayl, Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Married since 1961 (39 years) to Sydna, they have two children.

  • Their son is a petty officer in the Navy's submarine service, currently serving in San Diego.
  • Their daughter lives in Lake Crystal, MN.
  • Their granddaughter lives with her mother in Oregon.
  • Their grandson lives with Paul and Sydna.

Paul has a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Idaho and a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management from Pepperdine University.

After leaving the Marine Corps, Paul attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, receiving a Master of Divinity degree in 1996.
In 1997 Paul accepted the call to the First Presbyterian Church, Wenatchee, as the Associate Pastor.

If time permitted, he would enjoy golf, sailing, bridge and, maybe, skiing.
He joined Wenatchee Rotary in June of 1998, sponsored by Bob Culp.
