MARC C. HEMINGER
Marc is a true Wenatchee native by birth and schooling in the Eastmont School District, going on to earn a Political Science Degree from the UW in 1971.
He has been a member of Wenatchee Rotary since 1978, proposed by his father, Ross, and is a Paul Harris and Paul Scea sustaining member.
Ross was club president in 1946-47 and Marc followed in his father's giant footprints to become club president in 1991-92 and to a lifetime of dedication to his family, his church, his community and his profession, as illustrated by the organizations he has served as board member:
- United Way of Chelan-Douglas Counties
- NCW Council of Boy Scouts of America
- Central Washington Hospital
- Central Washington Hospital Foundation (President in 1997)
- University of Washington Alumni Association (District Governor)
His professional career began as a claims adjuster for Safeco Insurance Company in 1975, after being a Congressional Intern in Washington D.C., and he continues in the insurance profession as a partner in the pioneer Gellatly Insurance Agency, where he has been since 1976. He was President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Chelan-Douglas Counties (1978 and '79) and board member of Independent Agents and Brokers of Washington (1988).
His Rotary service has also included the 1985 presidency of the Wenatchee Rotary Foundation, chairmanship of the "Sweetheart Auction" in 1991 and work on every project where he could help.
"I am very proud to be a Rotarian. It means a lot to be able to wear the pin and to know you are a member of the world's most prestigious service club. The fellowship with other Rotarians is one of the most enjoyable aspects of Rotary."
Marc married Karen Gellatly in 1975 and they are parents to three children:
- Jeff, sophomore at Dartmouth College
- Kami, senior at WHS
- Laura, freshman at WHS
"My family is one of the real joys of my life. I am very proud of my wife and children. I enjoy helping my children be successful and fulfill their potential,"
Marc can be found snow skiing in the winter and backpacking in the summer or enjoying his other hobby, reading nonfiction.
